Saskatchewan's telephone planners have twice had to introduce a new code for the same territory, and cultural sensitivity shaped both decisions: the provincial carrier favored 639 over 474 for the 2013 overlay partly out of respect for tetraphobia, only bringing 474 into service in 2021 once the numbering pool needed the extra capacity.
